  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 28 oz can diced tomatoes with juice(I use Delmonte)
  • 6 oz tomato paste
  • 4 cups low sodium chicken broth 
  • 3 cups chopped peppers- I use bell cheaper
  • 2/3 cup uncooked brown or white rice
  • 2 Tbsp packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon 
  • ground black pepper to taste


  1. In a large skillet cook turkey with onion and add garlic over medium heat until browned.  Drain juices and transfer to a slow cooker.  Add remaining ingredients and stir to mix gently.  Cook on low for 8-9 hours.  Add water to thin if necessary or to stretch recipe.  Makes 6  2 cup servings.  300 calories/15g sugar/21g protein.  Great cons weather or game day food.  A slice of bread and a beverage completes your he meal.
