
Skillet Pizza Pie [Family friendly]
Makes 4 small pizza pies (4-8 servings)
Ingredients:
1 pound Signature Café Whole Wheat Pizza Dough, room temperature
4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, divided use
1 1/3 cup marinara sauce, 1/3 cup pesto, or 1/2 cup Alfredo sauce
2 cups Primo Taglio Pizza Blend Cheese (or cheese of choice)
1/2 cup grated or shredded Primo Taglio Parmesan cheese
Italian Seasoning, Herbes de Provence or Neapolitan Pizza Seasoning
Vegetable toppings of choice (tomato, mushroom or zucchini slices, chopped peppers or green onions, artichoke hearts, and more!)
OPTIONAL: Signature Select Sliced Turkey Pepperoni (or other meats or alternatives)
Black pepper to taste
Directions:
- Divide the pizza dough into 4 equal sized pieces and place on a clean cutting board, dusted with flour. Roll out (or use clean hands to press) each pizza dough piece as far as you can (about 8-inch round). Begin heating a nonstick skillet over medium heat.
- Brush an 8-inch area on the skillet with 1 tablespoon olive oil and top with one of the crusts. When the underside is nicely brown (about 2 minutes), flip it over to brown the other side (another 2 minutes).
- Repeat Step #2 with the remaining crusts.
- When the crusts are done, the family can prepare their own pizzas with sauce, cheese, seasoning blend then toppings. Sprinkle pepper over the top as desired.
- Preheat broiler. Broil pizza briefly about 6-inches from the heat until the cheese is bubbly (about 4 inches).
